The whole Monochrome Vision story began with Laurent Pernice, whose track of immobile music I included in the compilation accompanying the last issue of IEM zine back in 2003. He was contacted me again and asking if I know someone who can be interested to release his new album consisted of more pieces like that one. I told him to send me a master - honestly, I had no idea to whom I can propose it, I just wanted to hear some more Pernice music... So he did, and when I listened to it, I didn't liked it much. So I just put the disc on my shelves and forgot about it. Next year Laurent contacted me again and asked if there are some news. I realized that nobody will care about releasing this music here, and felt myself ashamed. I found the disc, listened to it again and, what a surprise, liked it a lot! Nobody will release it - well, nobody but me. So, it became the first MV release in 2004.
The label concept came quickly - strict and old fashioned b/w artwork and the intention to find and release music from 80s underground or some new music that followed the traditions or rooted in aesthetics of that time. The next release was Bezdna by Cisfinitum, the most commercially successful one, being sold out in a year (the Pernice album as well, but the half of edition was just spent for the promotion purpose, I sent out two hundreds copies for free anywhere I can). My aim is to do 500 copies editions, even now, in times when labels tend to have 150 copies and sell it quickly, what makes some people not happy at all. The third release was by Miguel Ruiz, who shortly after was invited to play in Russia amongst other spanish artists - he was chosen because his music was released here! Those tiny surprises made me feel really entusiastic of what I was doing. Unearthing the old music of Rafael Flores and Frank Rothkamm, contacting such underground legends as Maurizio Bianchi, Asmus Tietchens and If, Bwana, collecting the tracks of my favorite russian artists for the compilation being produced in France, and especially meeting artists like Philippe Blanchard (Lieutenant Caramel), Jean-Marie Onni (Le Syndicat) and Guido Huebner (Das Synthetische Mischgewebe) in person, my involvement in label activity became lifestyle. I would like to thank all the people around the globe who supported me throughout the years, all adventurous listeners who devoted their lifetime to my releases, and of course to respected artists for their confidence and inspirational music that keep all of us alive.
